Research on coastal erosion with Dr. Nguyen Hao Quang, Japanese National Institute of Seas and Ports

Cuối dòng sông Lại - Báo Gia Lai điện tử - Tin nhanh - Chính xác

Dr. Quang proposed 2 research topics in the field of remote sensing for students of Space Engineering as follows:

  1. Automatic shoreline export from satellite images on Google Earth Engine system, from which spatial and temporal fluctuations will be analyzed by the EOF (Empirical Orthogonal Functions) method. The study site is a section of the coastline in Ca Mau (or an area that can be discussed later) to assess before the sea dyke is built and after the sea dyke construction, how the coastline changes. The results from this topic can be written into an article for a scientific conference. Or if it’s good, it can be written into a complete article. Can be developed into a university graduate thesis.
  2. Extraction of depth distribution for coastal waters along the coast of Lai Giang estuary (Binh Dinh) using Sentinel 2 or Landsat satellite images. Use the actual depth map to measure this area to verify the results and calculate for this method.
