The first generation of Space Engineering defends their graduation thesis

Our first course 2016-2022,

Engineers in Space Engineering defends graduation thesis.

On the morning of August 28, 2020, the Physics Department held a thesis defense session for students of Space Engineering, the first course 2016-2020.
The first round of protection includes 5 students (in alphabetical order): Nguyen Phuc Dat, Nguyen Ngoc Huy Hoang, Le Kim Long, Nguyen Le Tien, and Hau Van Tung:

  • Nguyen Phuc Dat conducted the thesis with the guidance of Dr. Le Ngoc Tram and Dr. William Reach (Deputy Director) at SOFIA Science Center, NASA, on Simulation of CO emission lines in shock wave regions at infrared wavelengths, towards using SOFIA Observatory observation data, on board a Boeing 747SP.
  • Nguyen Ngoc Huy Hoang conducted the thesis with the guidance of Dr. Woo-Kyoung Lee and Dr. Byung-Kyu Choi at the Institute of Astronomy and Space Science (KASI), Korea, on Calculation of electron concentrations in the ionosphere above Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, using GNSS global positioning station located at International University – VNU-HCM.
  • Le Kim Long conducts the thesis with Dr. Kyung-Suk Cho (at the Institute of Astronomy and Space Science (KASI), Korea) and Dr. Kyoung-Sun Lee (University of Alabama), for Detecting and studying the physical properties of solar plumes, using the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO).
  • Nguyen Le Tien conducts the thesis with Dr. Lam Dao Nguyen at the Vietnam Space Center (VNSC) on Mapping the Mekong Delta inundation, using Sentinel-1 satellite data with Google Earth Engine.
  • Hau Van Tung made the thesis with Dr. Le Xuan Huy, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Space Center (VNSC) on Simulation for satellite search system in optical wavelength region.

All 5 students successfully defended before the Council, they have very good qualifications, are fluent in English, and are very confident.

After graduating, Phuc Dat will continue his internship at NASA (which was delayed due to the Covid-19 epidemic) and seek a PhD scholarship in Astrophysics.

Huy Hoang will continue his postgraduate studies in Korea, aiming to specialize in positioning techniques, programming and creating applications for mobile devices using navigation.
Kim Long wanted to work at BM Ly for a while before going to Korea to study for a doctorate, Long also had time to take the IELTS exam (only got 7.5 points).
Van Tung with a burning passion for advanced technologies, after making a number of automatic devices (still unfinished), will be trained in radio antenna engineering.
Le Tien is a very special case, when he entered the school, Tien studied Physics very difficult (very nervous when explaining why the apple fell to the ground). But after 4 years of studying, Tien has made great progress, unexpectedly when he completed a difficult topic.

Congratulations to all of you!
